FAQs

REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT
  • No referral is needed to get started. California allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can contact me directly to schedule an appointment without a doctor's referral. However, to continue care beyond 45 days or 12 visits (whichever comes first), a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified provider must sign your plan of care. I’ll guide you through that process if and when it’s needed.

  • Your first visit includes a comprehensive evaluation of your movement patterns, soft tissue mobility, and any behavioral or lifestyle factors contributing to your symptoms. We’ll take time to discuss your concerns, medical history, and goals, and together we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your needs.

  • Pelvic floor therapy should never be painful. Some techniques (particularly during assessments or when working with sensitive areas) may feel unfamiliar or slightly uncomfortable, but you are always in control. I’ll walk you through each step, check in regularly, and adjust based on your comfort. Your safety, consent, and well-being are always my top priorities.

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement and access during your assessment. Yoga pants or shorts paired with a t-shirt are great options.

  • While internal assessments can offer valuable insights into soft tissue health, muscle function, and contributing factors to your symptoms, they are not the only path to effective care. There are many evidence-based, external techniques that can help address pelvic floor dysfunction. If you choose not to pursue internal treatment, we can still make meaningful progress toward your goals. Your comfort, consent, and autonomy are always my top priorities.

  • Cultivate Pelvic Health is an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement from their insurance company by submitting a superbill (a detailed receipt we provide after your session).

We understand insurance terms can be confusing, and we're happy to walk you through what this means for you. Please don’t hesitate to call or message us—we’re here to help you understand your options and make informed choices about your care.

  • Unfortunately, no. Even if you wish to pay privately, federal and state regulations prevent physical therapists from accepting out-of-pocket payment from patients who have Medicare or Medi-Cal for services that would otherwise be covered.

If you have Medicare or Medi-Cal and are interested in pelvic floor physical therapy, I recommend contacting your physician for an in-network referral, or I’d be happy to help you find a local provider who can accept your coverage.

  • Not at all! Pelvic floor therapy during pregnancy can help with comfort, mobility, and preparation for birth. We can address pain, pressure, constipation, or bladder symptoms now and give you strategies to support recovery postpartum.

  • That’s actually more common than you’d think. Every therapist has a unique approach, and pelvic health concerns can have many layers. We’ll take time to understand your full story, reassess your symptoms, and tailor a plan that meets you where you are. A different perspective might be just the thing you need.

  • It’s never too late. Healing and strength can improve at any stage postpartum. Whether you’re weeks, months, or years out, we can work together to get you to where you want to be.
